Food Safety
We believe in getting things right at every stage of production, but this is never more critical than when it comes to Food Safety. Natural Farmworks has implemented stringent Food Safety control measures that begin in our fields and are implemented at every stage of production through to the canister of finished product that we fill and shrink wrap with a tamper-evident seal.
We would like to gain your confidence in our customized Food Safety system by giving you some insight into the extensive Internal Food Safety Program that we have implemented within our company. This program far exceeds typical Quality Assurance standards and it includes the following components.
Formalized Food Safety Training Every single person employed by Natural Farmworks in the production arena is proficient in our facility-specific Food Safety Training Manual that was developed by the management of Natural Farmworks. Exams are administered to every employee
and passing our comprehensive Food Safety Training is a prerequisite. No employee may continue on the production floor unless we are certain that they thoroughly understand their role and responsibility to Food Safety. Their studies include Good Manufacturing Practices, proper food handling, food bacteria and microbiology, equipment sanitation, instrumentation and hazardous control points.
Rigorous In-House Testing We have invested in a well-equipped, modern lab that is dedicated to ensuring the safety of every product that enters, processes, and leaves the facility. Within our in-house lab we undertake a regimented battery of tests overseen by a dedicated Quality Assurance Department and full-time Laboratory Technicians. We test every single lot of every single product for a range of quality parameters including microbial assay, nutritional analysis and physical characteristics. And we don’t stop there. Our in-house tests are further scrutinized and verified by third party, independent labs. All of this information is retained on a Certificate of Analysis that chronicles the quality of every production lot. If any lot does not pass every quality marker then that product is rejected. We will not compromise quality. Ever.
Meticulous Product Tracking Natural Farmworks has the ability to track our products at EVERY stage of production because we own the land upon which our raw ingredients are grown and we own the facility in which they are processed. This gives us an extraordinary degree of
confidence in the Food Safety and Quality of our finished products. We are personally accountable at every stage.
Natural Farmworks employs a sophisticated GPS tracking system to enable us to optimize field traceability – all of the raw materials grown in our fields are tracked right back to the acre upon which they grew. We have developed an expansive documentation system to intelligently and accurately track a wide variety of data including plant varieties, seeding dates, field locations, harvesting dates, organic status, ingredient formulations, production parameters utilized in processing, specific staff members involved in production, quality assurance results and Certificates of Analysis among others. It is well engineered process that is committed to food safety, food integrity and food traceability.

Pure, Authentic Ingredients All products processed by Natural Farmworks are Non-GMO entities and all ingredients are accompanied by a Non-GMO Statement of Authenticity. It is their commitment to identity preservation of agricultural foods and food products.
Non-Allergenic Scrutiny All products are scrutinized through an Allergen Checklist for Food Suppliers and Manufacturers program and processed in a manner that recognizes the validity of allergen awareness as recommended by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

Organic Certification Both our manufacturing facility and our Organic Tea Plantation are recognized as organic operations through QMI Organic Inc. an accredited certifying body of the USDA. The balance of our farmland is currently in a transition phase as all of the fields are converted to certified organic status.
We at Natural Farmworks believe in farming in a sustainable manner and in exceeding the standards dictated by certifying bodies. We go beyond organic farming to implement what we call “Nutritional Farming”, which ensures that all our plants are grown without any chemical of any kind, and that they have been grown in a manner that optimizes their nutritional density. After all, Food Safe Organic Operations is more than just living by a book of rules.
Kosher Certification Through an accredited Orthodox Rabbinical Council, our facility and products have been adjudged and certified according to Kashrut Dietary Law. Kosher certification ensures that the food products that we manufacture have been held to the most rigid food safe program including food preparation, production and sanitation yet still representative of those principles for contemporary Jewish Dietary Law.
National Health Products Directorate Site Licensed
Natural Farmworks was one of the early Canadian companies to acquire a site license under the name of the manufacturing facility, Sepallo. “Part 3 (section 43 to 62) of the Natural Health Products Regulations sets out the good manufacturing practices (GMPs) that manufacturers, packagers, labelers and importers must meet before the Natural Health Products Directorate (NHPD) will issue a site license…” The NHPD regulations are an umbrella of strict protocol where the activity and environment surrounding health food products are in accordance with the food safe requirements set forth by Health Canada.
International Recognized Food Safety Standards The Natural Farmworks production facility is currently implementing an ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System. ISO 22000 extends from the ISO 9001:2000 standard for quality management systems and builds upon the principles of HACCP. This is a seamless, global monitoring system that delivers a universal standard to food safety in the industry. All products and operations are audited and scrutinized to ensure that the food supply chain is held to the highest internationally recognized standard in food safety.
